Ahhhh, Miami. I feel like I am still there. After countless family and business trips, I finally made the decision to take some much-needed time off from work and life in Birmingham and venture to sand and sun. With one of my best friends from college along for the ride, we embarked on an adventure we dubbed #twogirlstakemiami! Our objectives: sleep, eat amazing food, beach, eat amazing food, dance, and eat amazing food. My kind of vacay.

Sofitel Miami sat beside the Miami airport and was a short ride to South Beach. We were greeted by some pretty svelte statues and a view of the lagoon everyday. Highly recommend this place!

Yardbird had the best food I’ve ever eaten so far, hands down. This place was recommended by multiple people that knew I was venturing to Miami. My meal included a blackberry bourbon lemonade and BLT sliders with fried green tomatoes and pork belly. I’ve never been one to slap my mama, but it’s probably for the best she didn’t accompany me on this trip. Yum.

Had to stop into this place for dessert after Yardbird. Left with a key lime macaron, several sticks of rock candy, peanut butter ice cream and a bag of chocolate covered pretzels.

South Beach, Anne’s Beach in Islamorada and the hotel pool offered plenty of opportunities to relax and frolic in clear blue waters.

Drove halfway down the keys and had to make a key lime pie stop at Wahoo’s Bar & Grill. Watched the catch of the day come in as we ate mahi mahi fish tacos and the best key lime pie I’ve ever consumed.

Welcome to the Miami Food Truck event at the Magic City Casino. 25 different trucks with all types of fare.

Spicy beef empanada from the new Empanada Truck. So tasty.

I’ve stalked this truck via Twitter for the last two years after going to a Miami food truck event 2 years ago. Behold grilled provolone and pesto on sourdough bread. Hallelujah.

Munchcakes didn’t have the cupcake I wanted so I decided to go for some more macarons. Red velvet was just okay, but the passion fruit was delicious!

I couldn’t eat this mango gelato pop from Hip Pop quickly enough! It was smooth and flavorful, but melted pretty quickly in the Miami sun.

We have friends that just moved to Islamorada. Might have to visit them just so I can go to that grilled cheese truck!!
