Organized

4 Jan

I am my mother’s daughter. Like my mom, I love making lists for everything and putting lines through items as I accomplish them. I make grocery lists, to do lists every morning, I even have an ongoing list of gifts to get people throughout the year as special occasions arise (thank you iPhone). Anything that helps me be more productive and makes life easier I am all over, like the Evernote or EEBA apps.

Well, I have discovered another tool to help me stay organized in a totally different area other than finances or daily tasks. My closet. I love clothes. I love shopping for clothes, looking at pictures of clothes, putting outfits together and, yes, the compliments that result after making a good outfit choice that day. Well, in my efforts to stay financially sound, I am going to try to avoid the shopping part as much as possible now that the Christmas money has dwindled.

Since I’ll be laying off adding to my wardrobe, I have found a resource that is helping me freshen up my style with my existing pieces. It’s called Polyvore. Polyvore is a site that you can shop from, ogle other people’s style, create outfits from pieces you’ve been drooling after, or like me, create outfits from your existing wardrobe. I used the items search to find several articles of clothing similar to things I currently have in my closet, everything from skirts to scarves to shoes. From there I was able to create sets, or outfits, out of my items. I created 2 weeks worth of new outfits from clothes I have been wearing for months, or in some cases, years!

Here is what I wore to work today. No, I don’t own a Balenciaga scarf, but my Old Navy one is a close resemblance.

Ruby Tuesday

It’s a simple, laid back Friday at work type of outfit. I’m looking forward to referencing my Polyvore sets and creating new looks for work and not spending 10 minutes every night trying to figure out what to wear the next day. Yay for new life breathing into my closet again!
